The Design and Controls
The design of PlayStation Classic perfectly mirrors the original console, with the same logo, button layout and packaging. But it is 45% smaller than the original 1994’s PlayStation. Long-time fans will appreciate the nostalgia that comes with rediscovering the games they know and love. While the gamers who will be newer to this platform, will also be able to enjoy the PlayStation. The original PlayStation controller has been changed and modified. Now it has four shoulder buttons and an ergonomic design for flawless grip. The new PlayStation Classic comes complete with two of these iconic controllers in the box. All of the pre-loaded games will be playable in their original format.
The game box has an HDMI cable, USB cable, and two wired controllers. It does not come with an AC adapter. Also, it ships with replicas of the original PS1 controller, which doesn’t have analog sticks. Earlier in 1997, Sony released the Dual-Shock controller for PS1 with its two analog sticks and vibration function.
First releasing in Japan in 1994, the original PlayStation was available to the Europe and USA in 1995. For the following four years, hundreds of different games arrived on the console. The PlayStation would ultimately be superseded by the much more popular PlayStation 2 in 1999, but Sony’s original console set the stage for some of gaming’s longest running franchises and gave the Nintendo 64 some healthy competition.
