Abode has revealed its Gen 2 gateway, and it’s 100% committed to bringing HomeKit support to the platform. However, this already makes it one of the more flexible hubs to date. It can already communicate with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT. Not only that, it supports a push of smart home devices using Z-Wave Plus, Zigbee and Abode’s own abodeRF.

The Abode second-generation gateway also supports its security system as well. Abode’s enhanced automation engine will help the customers to create smart home automations.

Adobe Homekit

The gateway of Adobe Home kit also enables in-app support for smart home solutions from popular manufacturers. These manufacturers include Nest, Ecobee, LifX, Philips HUE, First Alert and others. Not only these companies, but most recently includes the Danalock smart lock announced at CES 2019. The new gateway enables voice control support through Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant as well.

On the other hand, outer of HomeKit, Gen 2 is mainly notable for its inclusion of 4G cellular data backup on some models as well as the addition of Z-Wave Plus. It’s clearly designed with home security in mind thanks a built-in battery for home security as well as a 93db siren.

The new Abode gateway will arrive in next month as a replacement for an existing hub. And in bundles that range between $279 and $359 depending on whether or not customers will like cellular backup and extended storage.
