Apple just wrapped a Mac-and-iPad event in Brooklyn, New York. Besides the announcements of refreshed MacBook Air and iPad Pro, the Mac Mini has finally received some attention. The new model has a brand new design, reminiscent of the Apple TV, with the latest specs.
The new design is familiar on the surface, outside of its space gray finish, but boasts a huge performance up gradation. The Mac Mini was released in 2014, so this new Mac Mini is making its way after four years.
The Specs
Apple gives Mac mini a massive power to increase its performance. The Mac Mini has quad- and 6-core 8th-generation Intel Core processors with Turbo Boost Speeds up to 4.6GHz and Intel UHD graphics. It has up to 64GB faster memory and blazing fast all-flash storage. Results in, the new Mac mini delivers an unbelievable five times faster performance. Thus making it the most powerful Mac mini ever made.
Mac Mini has four Thunderbolt 3 ports, twice as many Thunderbolt ports as the previous generation. The new Mac mini can connect to high speed storage, 4K and 5K Thunderbolt displays, and output video in three formats. Mac mini also features an HDMI 2.0 port, two USB-A ports, an audio jack and Gigabit Ethernet. And for super fast networking performance, Mac mini offers a 10 Gb Ethernet option for the first time.
Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said, “Mac mini is loved by customers for its ability to be used in incredibly diverse environments — from casual desktop use, to live professional performances, to multiple Mac mini computers powering through video renderings and compiling software code, to racks of thousands in giant app build farms — anywhere a small-but-mighty Mac is needed to get the job done”.
In addition to being a grand desktop computer, Mac mini powers everything from home automation to giant render farms. And now with eighth-generation Intel quad-core and 6-core processors and Intel UHD Graphics 630, Mac mini has even more compute power for industrial-grade task.
Mac mini now includes all-flash PCIe-based storage, with up to four times the read speeds of previous flash options. So, you can load giant files and launch apps faster than ever. T he mini has 2TB SSD; you’ll have twice the space for all of them. Mac mini features the Apple T2 Security Chip, second-generation custom Mac silicon to make it more secure.
