Indian Blacksmith is known for its best design bikes, but times it wanted to introduce its electric motorcycle. Blacksmith Electric is tooling up to give riders a very grand, very Indian take on electric motorcycling. The Blacksmith B2, currently in its third generation of prototyping, offers up to 240 km (150 mi) of range, with swappable battery packs for quick top-ups.

According to the company, they have been working on e-motorbike for more than a decade. Back then when most of the bike makers hardly had a roadmap for electric mobility, Blacksmith had filed a patent for swappable batteries.

Indian Blacksmith B2

The company has just unveiled a teaser and there is less details available through leaked news. However, the final production version will be designed on the same lines as the prototype. Expect the production version to get features such as a fully digital instrument cluster, different ride modes, LED lights at the front and back, and navigation among others.

On the other hand, the leaked details claim that The B2 will have a 5-kW (6.7-hp) continuous motor. And it delivers maximum power and torque figures of 19.4 hp and 71 lb-ft for short bursts.  While, coming to the top speed, the bike will have a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph), which makes it to run on high-ways Besides that it can run either one or two removable battery packs, for range figures of 120 or 240 km (75 or 150 mi).

Not only that buyers can either swap the batteries at charging stations or they could take the batteries home with them to charge. The company claims that the B2 electric bike will reach from 0 to 50kmph in 3.7 seconds. Blacksmith will be focusing on the Indian two-wheeler market in its first phase. However, the company is also planning to launch the B2 internationally during its second phase.
