While, speaking of small electric scooters, Gogoros smart scooters are awesome especially the new Gogoro Viva. They are unique in that way they use battery-swapping technology to keep riders on the road instead of tethered to a charging station. This new particular smart scooter is designed to operate similarly to Gogoro’s existing scooters, but it allows more flexible design for urban mobility. Besides that it also represents one of the final steps in Gogoro’s plans to expand globally.
On the other hand, the company holds 94% market share for electric mobility in Taiwan market.
Gogoro Viva
According to the company, the Viva is an alternative to 50-100cc gas scooters. Those smaller bikes typically don’t require a motorcycle license to ride on the road, just a driver’s license. Its ability to appeal to a larger audience is what makes it ideal as something that helps the company expand. Other than this, this electric scooter makes use of a battery-swapping network to allow riders to quickly replace depleted batteries in their scooter.
In Taiwan, it has Over 1,400 battery swap stations and over 125,000 battery swaps occur daily. On the other hand, just in Taipei alone, riders are never more than 1 km (0.6 mile) from a Gogoro battery swap station.
While Gogoro’s original scooters can reach speeds of over 80 km/h (50 mph) and carry two batteries, the new VIVA scooters are designed to be smaller, more urban-centric scooters. Thus, the 3 kW (4 hp) VIVA scooters carry just a single battery. That battery is still sufficient for around 80 km (50 miles) of range. Besides that, with starting price of $1,800, the VIVA scooter can reach a top speed of 50 km/h (31 mph).
