If the blazing heat of the summer sun is troubling you, Sony may have just the solution. The Japanese tech giant has just revealed a wearable AC that guarantees to keep you at a cool 73 degrees. This Sony wearable air conditioner is called Reon Pocket that was originally intended for a release that coincided with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Here are amazing specs about this pocket-size Sony AC.
The Reon Pocket is a reasonably sleek palm-sized white plastic device that charges over USB-C and connects to your iOS or Android phone with Bluetooth. It surely looks like Sony gadgets that always amaze the world.
Sony Wearable Air Conditioner
The mini AC unit was developed through Sony’s startup expedition plan and uses the Peltier effect to produce a temperature differential across the two sides of the device.
Basically, it raises the temperature on one side and reduces it on the other to cool your body. Sony claims that it can drop your temperature by 23 degrees Fahrenheit on hot days or increase it 14 degrees Fahrenheit in colder conditions. That’s true; the multipurpose device can transform into mini heater come wintertime, too.
The smooth, all-white device is about the size of a card case and weighs just modest of 3 ounces. It fits easily inside a unique pocket of a comparable undershirt that’s sold separately in small, medium, and large for $20 (¥1,800). If the design seems a little cumbersome to wear all day, it might just be worth it if it prevents you from sweating through your shirt.
Because of its Bluetooth connectivity, the AC is compatible with either iOS or Android. The user can choose to manually control the temperature via an app or set the device to automatic mode. Switch to the latter and it will adjust your temperature based on your movement, which is captured by built-in motion sensors. This guarantees you’ll stay at the ideal temperature no matter the condition. This amazing device has a battery life of 90 minutes and can fully recharge in two hours via the USB-c port.
The app is much simple and provides you immediate control over the Reon Pocket’s temperature settings. There are three levels of cooling or warming, plus an extra boost mode that’s limited to two minutes and control for the speed of the “fan.” You can also set automatic modes that kick in whenever you turn the device on with its own power button rather than using the app.
