After the leaks earlier, the social network has official announced the Facebook Messenger dark mode. Now, Facebook has updated officially the dark mode for iOS and Android. For now, user can only make it possible by sending the crescent moon emoji in an existing chat thread or new message. Well the experts say that it is well planned move by Facebook to get users actively chatting, instead of simply activating the mode through settings.

The Facebook messenger dark mode theme comes after, only when it is under pressure the attractiveness of other social media chatting apps. Facebook’s new dark mode for the Messenger app is the first ever dark mode on any of its app. Instagram, WhatsApp, or even the core Facebook apps do not have a dark mode as of yet.

Facebook Messenger Dark Mode

The new dark mode makes Messenger much more comfortable on the eyes and should use a lot less battery too. And with Messenger’s chat color gradients, things look really cool.

The Facebook Messenger dark mode feature isn’t available to everyone by default. In fact, it needs to be enabled with an emoji. User simply needs to send a crescent moon emoji on a chat to enable the new dark mode and actually turn it on from there, which is kind of cool and unnecessary at the same time. To access Facebook Messenger Dark Mode on the latest versions of Messenger for iOS and Android, you have to send the crescent moon emoji to one of your Facebook friends in a Messenger chat.

Facebook said, “Messenger’s dark mode provides lower brightness while maintaining contrast and vibrancy. Dark mode cuts down the glare from your phone for use in low light situations, so you can use the Messenger features you love no matter when or where you are.”

Facebook Messenger dark mode is for all users on iOS and Android. In coming days, it will be automatically available to everyone without the need to send the crescent moon emoji.
