So for those who wanted to enjoy winter, with the season’s sceneries and for sports, the best winter destination across Europe is waiting for you. Well, while some might feel ready to flee the cold this time of year, others want to embrace it. Here are some truly beautiful places that become even more stunning once winter rolls around.

Abisko, Sweden

This best winter place in Europe located in the far north. Abisko in Lapland is for lovers of serious winter. The sun doesn’t rise for several weeks in December and January. And the darkness makes it one of the world’s best places to view the majestic aurora borealis. Other attractions include cross-country skiing along national park trails and husky mushing.

Tignes, France

Well if you are tired of snowy weather in cities, it’s time to go to some village in winter and its Tignes. Along with amazing scenes, you can seek alongside your ski experiences then Tignes, in south-eastern France, is the destination for you. The five villages include sites such as the Vanoise National Park, Espace Killy and the Grande Motte glacier. Four of the five villages were created specifically to bolster the ski activities in the area, so many of the facilities are purpose-built for your needs. It has snow parks, ice cave experiences, half pipes air bag jumps and one of the longest black runs in the region.

Zakopane, Poland

It is the One of the largest European ski resorts north of the Alps; Zakopane is an area that is recognized for its consistently amazing snow. With plenty of spas and relaxing activities for those that love to chill at night after a long day on the runs. This place is a beautiful location, with hoards of culture but none of the crowds typical of other locations in Europe.

Zinal/Grimentz, Switzerland

Zinal and Grimentz nestle between, and are often overlooked for, the busy ski areas of Zermatt and Verbier. The tiny village of Grimentz displays charm, with traditional wooden chalets and rustic restaurants, at a fraction of the price of Verbier. Zinal, higher up the valley, is more modern with instant access to crowd-free slopes and world-class, lift-accessed off piste. Unlike its posh neighbors, you won’t be fighting for a line here and you’ll be riding fresh pow for days after a good snow fall.

Lapland, Finland

Last but not least, the list of European winter destination cannot be completed without Lapland, Finland. The place is located deep inside the Arctic Circle, Finland’s fairytale destination makes for a perfect family holiday or romantic winter getaway. Think cozy log cabins with roaring fires, miles of snow-quilted forests and reindeer aplenty. For the little ones, there’s Santa’s grotto, sleigh rides and husky sledge rides.
