German aviation startup Volocopter has now announced plans to build its first flying taxi station in Singapore.
Volocopter’s theme is basically base on using electrically-powered aircraft to lift people over urban areas on short trips. Because it will work address the overcrowding and pollution issue in metropolitans.
Volocopter Building a Prototype Flying Taxi Station
Well, it says that the world’s first passenger-drone services may start in Asia but the technology behind is European. German company Volocopter along with Chinese partner EHang Inc is about to launch a landing facility for flying taxis in Singapore.
Besides that, Austria’s FACC AG is working to produce hundreds of passenger drones for by the end of next year. According to the Volocopter, its two-seater aircraft will be capable of traveling just under 30 km (18.6 mi) on each charge, and be quiet enough at altitudes of 100 m (330 ft) to not be heard from ground level.
On the other hand, Chinese company Ehang has already logged 7,000 flight hours with prototypes. It has several thousand pre-orders for the model, and is developing a test range with FACC for flights in Linz. There are more than 100 different electric-aircraft programs in development worldwide, according to consultant Roland Berger.
However Volocopter is making no secret of its lofty ambitions, stating that the prototype Volo-Port will be complete and test flights will be underway by the end of 2019.
