In order to get safety over speed, drivers will use Volvo’s Care Key. Volvo is trying to control the speed and enhances the safety. Volvo announced that, beginning with model year 2021; all new cars will come with a “Care Key.” Owners will be able to set a speed limit attached to the key, and anyone using it will be restricted at that speed. On the other hand, the feature will be quite helpful if someone try to over speed your new car. Besides that Volvo is hoping insurance companies will offer incentives to those who use Care Key.
The automaker has said that it would cap the speed in all of its new cars at 112 mph, starting with the 2021 model year. Not only that, Volvo’s Care key will allows the owners set their top speeds even lower, if they choose.

Besides the capping the speed limit, in order to avoid maximum accidents, Volvo has some other plans with their new cars. The company also announced plans to use cameras and sensors inside its cars to notice drunk and troubled driving.
However, Volvo said details on the exact number of cameras and their positioning will have to wait until a later date. Some cars, such as the Subaru Forester and BMW X7, already feature driver-facing cameras. But Volvo will likely be the first automaker to deploy them across its complete lineup.
According to the press release, “The Care Key allows Volvo drivers to set limitations on the car’s top speed, before lending their car to other family members or to younger and inexperienced drivers such as teenagers that only just received their drivers’ licence.”
The Swedish manufacturer says the initiative is an example of how car makers can take active responsibility for lowering fatal road traffic accidents.
The Care Key is good and simple; it allows an owner to set a speed limit for the car before handing the vehicle off to a lead-footed teenager. No matter how hard they try, the car won’t conceal the fixed speed.
Best of all, Care Key won’t be optional. It will be standard equipment on all Volvo cars starting in the 2021 model year.
