In 2017, Amazon’s Echo Show was the only smart screen on the market, but just after a couple of years later, gadgets like these have become universal. That is mainly because of the race from the likes of Google, which in interest to making its hardware, has licensed out its tech to third-party companies like Lenovo. So here is a match between Amazon vs Lenovo smart display. In the end, you will be able to decide which one is better. So keep reading.

Today, it became obvious that smart displays are useful and they can do everything smart speakers can, with a plus point of helpful visuals.

Amazon vs Lenovo Smart Display

Overview

Amazon Echo Show 8 is in the middle of the small Echo Show 5 and the bigger 10-inch Echo Show. The display is bright and colorful, and the audio quality is very powerful, with profound bass and precise highs. Like other Alexa displays, it allows NBC, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video, and it also supports video calling via Skype.

The Lenovo Smart Display 7 is one of the firm’s smallest Google-powered smart displays with a compact, intelligent design that should fit in most places. It has an automatic interface, and it combines well with the Google ecosystem of products and services. Still, the display and sound quality don’t match well to the opponent and it’s needing some features that other Google displays have.

Design

The Echo Show 8 and the Lenovo Smart Display 7 are approximately the same sizes, with Show 8 getting up a little more extra real estate. The Echo Show 8 is rather much alike to its ancestors, with the display ruling the front and the speaker housed throughout the back. It’s a bit bigger than the 5, and a bit smaller than the 10-inch second-gen model.

The Lenovo Smart Display 7 has a minimal design as well. Unlike former Lenovo smart displays that had a speaker on the left, the Smart Display 7’s speaker lies under the panel. This design makes it look a petty more like a tiny TV set and less like a digital photo frame.

Display

With a 1,280 by 800 screen, the Echo Show 8 is one of the best Alexa smart displays in the market. It gives crunchy and vigorous illustrations, solid hues and thick, dark blacks. Videos look wonderful, and the panel even makes my common iPhone photos look amazingly great lit.

Onn the other hand, The Lenovo Smart Display 7 doesn’t seem truly as bright, with only 1,024 by 600 resolution. On its own, we didn’t believe it seemed that bad. The resolution is basically on standard with the Google Nest Hub, which too has a 7-inch screen. We believe it’s even a bit more radiant and a touch more bright than Google’s. Yet, when placed side by side with the Echo Show 8, images on the Lenovo Smart Display 7 just look broken and pixelated by comparison.

Audio

One of the best things we have noticed in the features on the 10-inch second-gen Echo Show is its audio quality, and surprisingly, the Echo Show 8 is more of the same. Thanks to a pair of 2-inch, five-watt neodymium speakers and an enduring bass radiator, the sound is thoroughly heavenly, with profound, thumping bass, clear highs, and powerful volume.

While the Lenovo Smart Display 7 has two 1.5-inch five-watt speakers and a passive radiator as well, which also offers excellent audio. The volume surely appears much louder than on the Nest Hub as well as former Lenovo smart displays. But again, when matched side by side with the Echo Show 8, it just doesn’t prove as well. The Lenovo Smart Display 7’s audio sounds dull next to the Echo Show 8, and the bass is nowhere close as powerful.

Conclusion

If the decision is based solely on hardware, there is no doubt that the Echo Show 8 wins out over the Lenovo Smart Display 7. It seems better, the display is sharper and more colorful, and the audio is excellent as well. However, when it comes to software, we somewhat favor the Google system. If we had to choose between the two, we’d choose the Echo Show 8. But, if provided other choices, we would logically go for another smart display altogether, like the Google Nest Hub Max, which has identical features as the Lenovo Smart Display 7, but more engaging design, added camera features, and a larger, brighter display.
