Casio created the first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, in 1983 with the goals of 10-year battery life. With water resistance of 10 bars and the ability to survive a 10-meter fall. It seems that underwhelmed by the watch’s ruggedness, in 1985 the G-SHOCK team created the DW-5500C, an updated version with a “mud-resistant construction,” appropriately nicknamed the “Mudman.” This sparked the “MASTER of G” line; with various other ultra-tough G-SHOCKS tool watches to follow throughout the ’90s and onward.
The “G-SHOCK RISEMAN” was capable of measuring ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. It allows to serve as a barometer and altimeter for those who worked and played at high altitudes. Casio continues the engineering legacy of the MASTER of G line with three new sub-models invoking the Air, Land and Sea.
MUDMASTER (The Land)
GG1000-1A3 & GWG1000-1A3
The MUDMASTER GG1000-1A3 is made to be as resistant to mud as possible. The twin Sensor capabilities provide instant access to direction and temperature information under tough conditions .Mud Resist construction helps to ensure that nothing gets into the watch when down and dirty. All buttons have a checkered surface for surer operation, and the overall design is tough and rugged.
The GWG1000-1A3 is created to work where piles of rubble, dirt, and debris are present. A special vibration-resistant construction lets you work while operating cutters, crushers, drills and other heavy machinery to clear way large obstacles. Triple Sensor Version 3 gives immediate access to direction, barometric pressure, and temperature information when needed under harsh conditions.
GRAVITYMASTER (The Sky)
GPW1000-1A & GA1000-2B
GPW1000-1A is the World’s First GPS Atomic Solar Hybrid watch. Casio-original GPS Hybrid radio-controlled technology built inside a TRIPLE G Shock Resistant structure. This unique technology combines Multi-band 6 capability to receive any one of six time calibration signals around the globe. It has a receiver that acquires position and time information from GPS satellites.
GA1000-2B is the G-Aviation lineup to be equipped with Twin Sensor capabilities, creating to matched to the needs of the modern aviator, both in terms of function and appearance. Pressing the button at the 9 o’clock position in any mode immediately goes to the Digital Compass Mode. While button at the 8 o’clock position returns the watch to the mode it was in before the Digital Compass Mode.
GULFMASTER (The Sea)
GWN1000B-1B & GN1000B-1A
GWN1000B-1B is the new GulfMaster ocean concept G-Shock that predicts weather changes. For the toughest men who challenge the deepest seas, Casio presents the ultimate maritime G-Shock with Smart Access technology. It has triple sensor, tide function and smart access. Equipped with Triple Sensors for Measuring Direction, Atmospheric Pressure/Altitude, and Temperature Hands Serve to Indicate Atmospheric Pressure and Compass Bearing.
From the series comes a new collection of Twin Sensor mode watches. The GN1000B- 1A is designed and engineered to stand up to the harshness of maritime. It has a digital compass takes continuous reading for 1 minute to help find you bearings at sea, and a thermometer feature helps to keep you informed about the environment around you. While a Tide Graph lets you check tide conditions and while a Moon Age indicator shows a graphic representation of Moon data.
