Google launched its updates system for Wear OS in September. This new system adds a cleaner interface, Google Assistant support, and restored Google Fit app. That update, which was mostly aesthetic, made Google-powered smart-watches a joy to use, but the search but that is not the end. Now recently Google has said that it will be rolling out another update ‘H’ in the coming months.
Google will update Wear OS with several quality-of-life improvements, including the ability to quickly power down your watch and a new battery saver mode. This update will change four key aspects of the operating system.
Update ‘H’
With this new update, Wear OS watches will have another way of conserving battery once the charge drops under 10 percent. Now you’ll be able to turn on Battery Saver Mode and use your watch only to tell time. After this it will only work as watch, not the smart watch unless you charge it. The second option is to make it smart again by switching the mode. To further extend battery power, if the device has been inactive for 30 minutes, it will automatically go into a “deep sleep mode”.
There is a also a “smart app resume” feature that keeps your apps in the state you left them in. It means, you can start from where you have left the app open. On the other hand, shutting down the watch is now shortened into a two-step process. Instead of having to dig through the settings menu to locate the “power off” option. Now you can turn off the device by holding down the power button and selecting “power off” or “restart” on the display.
Google says the update will slowly appear on devices, and it noted that device eligibility for the update is up to the device manufacturer.
