Lenovo launches ThinkReality AR and VR Headset

As the race of AR and VR headsets are on, in the same time Lenovo lunches ThinkyReality AR and VR headsets. Lenovo is continuing its expansion into new, unexpected categories outside of its PC business. And the company announced its new AR-and-VR system targeted at businesses. It’s called ThinkReality, and from the looks and description of the device and platform. Well Lenovo is making ahrd to become the competitor for Microsoft’s HoloLens.

According to the details, ThinkReality combines an Android-based headset with 1080p visuals with an ecosystem. It also combines with existing enterprise systems, is compatible with existing augmented reality content, and offers deep user and device management software. The Lenovo’s new ThinkReality A6 headset looks to expand that audience and even crib a few customers from Microsoft in the process.

Now talking about its technical aspects, the AR and VR headsets by Lenovo have dual-1080p displays as 16:9 aspect ratio. So, by comparing, these are s appreciably higher than the first-generation Microsoft HoloLens headset. As the HoloLens features a resolution per eye of 1,268 x 720, but falls behind the HoloLens 2’s converted resolution of 1,440p per eye.

The headset connects to an SSD-sized compute box that contains a Snapdragon 845 CPU running an Android-based platform. There’s also an Intel Movidius chips powering wave-guide optics here, and each eye on the A6 offers a 40-degree diagonal field of view and 1080p resolution.

On the other hand, the field views of Lenovo’s headset falls somewhere in the middle of the two HoloLens generations. ThinkReality is with an above 40 degrees diagonal FOV, whereas the HoloLens headsets are said to be 30 degrees horizontally.
