After a long waited Anker comes up with the Charges that seem to be the promised one. Anker’s first gallium nitride (GaN) charger was the 30W PowerPort Atom PD 1. That had a hue size but it was less practical due to its low power and single USB-C port. Now there is new and updated Anker’s PowerPort Atom PD 2. Which is has enhance performance and with larger practicality.
The company’s new GaN charger is there looks to solve most of those issues with 60W of power, a second USB-C port, and an improved design.
Anker’s PowerPort Atom PD 2
The changes are obvious just by looking at the Atom PD 2. Where the Atom PD 1 looks like a beefier iPhone brick, the PD 2 is more in line with one of Apple’s MacBook Pro chargers. At 60W, it’s much more suited to charging a MacBook Pro (or another USB-C laptop), too.
As the PowerPort Atom PD 2 uses Gallium nitride or GaN, a new material that allows semiconductor components to be shrunk down, leading to smaller charging accessories. Anker has been updating its power adapter line with GaN, bringing more compact charging options. These changes allow taking up less space than other chargers.
Besides the pother features, he PowerPort Atom PD 2 is smaller than standard 61W or 87W charger for the MacBook Pro. On the other hand, it’s not as small and compact as the lower power 30W PowerPort Atom PD 1. It measures in at 2.68 inches by 2.72 inches and it’s just over an inch thick.
Comparatively, Apple’s 61W USB-C Power Adapter is 2.85 by 2.85 inches, and it’s about the same thickness. The Atom PD 2 offers two USB-C ports, instead of just one. That might not seem like much, but given the universal nature of USB-C. Plus, Anker says that the GaN design means that, despite the extra port, it’s still the smallest 60W USB-C Power Delivery charger on the market.
