With the summer starting to end, you may be interested to enjoy some summer treats while the weather is still warm. The good news is that you can try out a summer favorite with the help of this easy ice cream recipe:
Gather:
Start by grabbing three-quarter cups of white sugar, 2 1/4 cups of milk, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 1 cup of heavy whipping cream.
This recipe takes around 30 min. of total prep and around 2.5 hours to complete so you will want to prepare accordingly if you are trying to make ice cream before a certain time or a meal in your day.
Start by stirring together the cream, sugar and milk in a saucepan until the sugar has completely dissolved. Heat the mix until you start to see of foam ring appear around the edge. The mixture should never completely boil.
Move the mixture into a measuring cup and start by stirring in the vanilla extract. After the vanilla extract is then added you can shield the mixture overnight. It usually takes at least two hours to make the ice cream though. If the mixture sits overnight it can often take on more of the flavor of vanilla so this can lead to more flavorful results.
Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker (Even one of the simple plastic ones should work fine). In most cases you will have to churn the mixture around a cold temperature for 20 to 25 min.
After the mixture has been completely frozen, you can place plastic wrapper around the ice cream and place it back in the freezer to ripen up. This is another way that you can get a great flavor and texture with your ice cream.
Keep this recipe in mind if you are looking for a fun summer treat that you could make with your kids or to impress someone new!
