World-famous British Car maker Aston Martins has revealed its secret for their first electric sports car. With the entire top Automobile manufacturer are unveiling their E-Type technology enabled vehicles, how most loveable car makers can rest and relax.
Aston’s first electric beauty is to be known as the Rapide E, and is being developed in close partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering. According to earlier statement, production will be limited to just 155 vehicles.
Andy Palmer, CEO Aston Martin, said, “Environmental responsibility and sustainability is a global challenge faced by us all. As a career automotive engineer, I’m proud that the car industry is leading the way in finding long-term solutions and reducing harmful emission”.
He further said that “As our first all-electric production model, Rapide E will fast-track our knowledge and help us ensure the character and high-performance capabilities of our future EV models and enhance the unique qualities found in all Aston Martins as we know them today”.
The Specs
According to the Aston Martin, this Electric Car Rapide E will achieve the distance of 200 miles in a single charge battery. This will be done by the powered with an 800V battery electrical structural design with 65kWh installed capacity using over 5600 lithium ion 18650 format cylindrical cells. This battery system powers two rear mounted electric motors producing a collective target output of just over 610PS and a colossal 950Nm of torque.
While this model is talented of charging at a rate of 185 miles of range per hour using a typical 400V 50kW charger. These are mounted in a modified battery pack where the original 6.0-litre V12, its gearbox and fuel tank were positioned. However, the car’s 800V high-voltage battery system enables faster charging of 310 miles of range per hour, using an 800V outlet delivering 100kW or higher.
Aston Martin says that this new Electric car is being purposefully meant to hit the high-performance. The New Rapide E will hit the road with the top speed 155mph and will reach 0 to 60 mph in just 4.0 sec time and will hit a 50-70mph in just blink of eye, with the time of just 1.5 sec. So, it is just not a car but ultimate electric sports version.
What makes this beauty different from other electric cars; it is not limited to get the performance, when the batteries are fully-charged. Instead the aim is for maximum performance on-demand throughout majority of the battery state of charge window, as would be estimated from a typical internal combustion-engine car. This includes the ability to drive a full distance, absolutely with no lowering the rate of the battery and the ability to manage with the daily demands of repeated hard acceleration and braking.
Beside the specification of the Electric sports car by the Aston Martin, the company has also revealed some details about the exterior of the car. According to them the Sedan E’s exterior plus the underbody has also been optimized aerodynamically and matched with newly-designed aerodynamic wheels. The tires are with Pirelli P-Zero low rolling-resistance, it features to noise-cancelling foam. Electric E comes with aim to hit the higher standard of aerodynamic with less friction and cooling performance.
