The Ford GT has long been the automaker’s high-performance supercar. Already a top performer on race tracks, the GT has just been powered up even more thanks in part to a lighter weight. The Carbon Series treatment has reduced the GT’s weight by 40 pounds by adding carbon fiber wheels with titanium lug nuts.

Hermann Salenbauch, global director, Ford Performance says, “The Ford GT Carbon Series stands out on the road with its striking carbon fiber-rich design and on the track with its athleticism,” says “It is yet another example of how we can bring to life our Le Mans-winning supercar in new and exciting ways so our customers can share in that magical legacy.”

The Ford GT Carbon Series

The light in weight boots the performance of the GT’s 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged Eco-Boost V6. The GT has 647 horsepower with 550 lb-ft of torque. They all tied into a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The carbon series of Ford GT has a striking 216 miles per hour top speed. Despite of the improvement, there’s no doubt that the GT is going to continue its incredible performance.

When comes to the design and outlook, that orange stripe can be had in silver, red or blue, as well, and the mirrors are painted to match. The stripes on either side of the orange accent are exposed carbon fiber, as are the a-pillars, showing off the GT’s carbon construction. Inside there’s even more carbon fiber trim, just as you might expect, silver stitching, and a badge indicating that this is no ordinary GT.

When the GT launched it was supposed to have a 1,000-car production run, but due to the extremely high demand for the car, Ford decided to extend the production run by 350 units. The limited Carbon series is essentially a middle ground between the standard GT and the US-only Competition series. All customers approved by Ford can request for a Carbon series car, but being a limited-edition model, only a handful will get the allocations.
