The Qiantu K50 electric sports car is designed at China but it will be built in USA. The California-based Mullen Technologies has adopted a different approach for this electric sports car. The company, instead of designing a car in U.S, they have taken the existing Chinese electric sports car the Qiantu K50. But they will take it to U.S and built it and launched it. The car makes its U.S. debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show, and will be available in 2020.
According to the details from the company, the new electric sports car will have high price from $125,000 to $150,000, based on varying options. Besides that, Mullen plans to sell 1,000 “signature series” versions of the car first.
Qiantu K50 Electric Sports Car
The Qiantu K50 is China is already sold, and it has features curvy carbon fiber bodywork over an aluminum chassis. Talking about the design, the 29 carbon-fiber body panels save 40 pounds over steel, and 20 pounds over aluminum bodywork. The company suggests that this particular styling would attract plenty of attention. But some says that the people might confuse the K50 with a McLaren 570S or Acura NSX.
Why the Mullen is naming the electric car as a sports car, because the engine will have power of two electric motors. While, the one motor powers each axle, giving the car all-wheel drive. On the other hand, jointly, the motors produce 402 horsepower, which is enough to throw the K50 from zero to 60 mph in “under 4.2 seconds,”
Besides that, the car is limited top speed of 125 mph, according to Mullen. But, the Chinese- version of the K50 has the range of 230 miles. Although Mullen claims that under a constant cruising speed the range can reach over 320 miles (515 km) between two charges. The claim seems next to impossible, as maintaining consistent speed over a long enough distance is unrealistic.
