After the years of anticipation and hard work, world known leader in automobile industry Aston Martin has unveiled its first electric car. Recently at 2019 Shanghai Auto Show the company has shown its electric variant of its Rapide S sport sedan appropriately called Rapide E. Well the other news is that, the Rapide E will only be limited to 155 units worldwide.
The Rapide E was announced in 2015 and Aston Martin lined up funding from Chinese financiers. Then, in 2016, Aston Martin announced it would build the car with Chinese tech corporation LeEco.
Rapide E
Visually, the Rapide E looks a lot like the Rapide S. The changes include a drivetrain-specific grille, and new-look alloy wheels wrapped by Pirelli P-Zero tires. The Eeectric car is equipped with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. Besides that, user can also get a lot of information through an app that connects to the vehicle and will also remember where it’s parked.
Besides that ,there is an 8-inch display mounted atop the center of the dashboard for infotainment. Other than the screens, physical buttons on the center console, echoing the layout of the most recent Rapides. The car has both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto play as well.
The Power
Aston Martin’s first electric car Rapide E 6.0 liter and V12 engine for an 800V, 65 kWh battery systems. Besides that it has twin rear motors with 604 hp and 700 pound-feet of torque. Twin motors mounted on the rear axle will generate 450kW and with the top speed of 155 miles per hour.
That will happen fairly quick, Aston Martin says the Rapide E will go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds. On the other hand, when plugged into a high-speed charger, the car’s battery can be recharged at a rate of 310 miles per hour.
If you’re charging up the Rapide E, the 800-volt system cans onboard 185 miles of range every hour. While, if you charge on a 50kW fast-charger, according to Aston Martin. But if the user has rapid charger with 100kW or more, and it will charge at 310 miles of range every hour.
