In a race to best electric cars, Audi has jumped in with new and innovative concept Audi AI: Trail Quattro. The four-seat concept is meant for sustainable mobility in rough terrain. Alongside that it covers all of the bases, including automated driving and focused off-road capability. According to experts, it is one of the most attractive and coolest models of e-vehicles. Audi has shown its electric car concept in 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Other than this, it features Level 4 autonomous driving capability; it means in specific areas, the driver can turn over the whole driving task to the car.
Well, it is the most outrageous and most niche vision of the Four Rings’ battery-powered, self-driven future. It also may just be the coolest.
Audi AI: TRAIL Quattro
The original Audi concept, the Aicon, began the quartet of concepts as a luxury-class, long-distance, automated electric car. Audi says the car will also be able to help keep the car on clearly visible trails off-road, too, and warn of objects that might hit the underside of the car. But full autonomy off road wouldn’t be available.
While, speaking of it, this e-vehicle is equipped with four electric motors and permanent Quattro all-wheel drive. Besides that it has 13.5-foot-long carbon, aluminum and steel show vehicle. Audi says the 33.5-inch tires and spidery suspension give the AI:Trail 13.4 inches of ground clearance, and the ability to ford up to 1.6 feet of standing water.
On the other hand, it does not have traditional headlight. Rather, it has Audi Light Pathfinders, “five rootless, triangular, electrically operated drones with integrated matrix LED elements.” The other prominent things is that it has drones that light the way, and they can also provide video feeds when they aren’t nestled in their roof-mounted inductive charging cradles.
The Power and other Specs
Additionally, there’s a magnetic multi-function light, dubbed Audi Light Companion, that magnetically attaches to the vehicle’s seat frame and can be used as a flashlight or an action camera mount. The glass-lined passenger pod features shell seats with four-point harnesses, and the rear seats are comprised of tube frames and fabric for hammock-like seating.
On the other hand, finally talking about its engine, it has an inspiring 429 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle I quite is light for a long-range electric car, it should be a pretty quick buggy, at least up to its 81 mph top speed. Audi says that on paved roads and mild trails, it should be able to travel between 248 and 310 miles. And on rough and hilly trails, range would drop to about 155 miles.
