Electric motors are in almost everything these days’ bikes, scooters, and cars. But one of the most fun things to ride is an electric skateboard. And as this market has grown over the last few years, some of them have gotten so good that they’re actually practical to use every day. If you live in a city, you can use electric skateboards in place of other transportation options. Electric skateboards have been getting better and better over the last couple years, but for some reason, most of them still suffer from the same big drawbacks. some are still heavy or awkward to carry around, and practically impossible to ride like a normal skateboard when the battery dies.

A good electric skateboard needs to have more than just a few miles of range. It should be fast not just because that’s fun, but because you need that speed to get around obstacles in a hurry. On the deck side, electric skateboards also have to be able to stop quickly and reliably, too.

M1! Pure Passion

The Inboard M1 is different. Inboard designed this beast from the ground up to address all the pain points that come with other electric boards. This board blows every other electric skateboard out of the water. According to Inboard the deck of the skateboard is ‘sleek, stable and solid’.  With its new design, you can experience the most advanced e-board deck ever developed. A custom designed composite deck that combines an inverted 3D Poplar wood core. The PU sidewalls and wrapped in the same fiberglass top sheet found in premium snowboards and skis.

There are countless features of M1 from the rest of the skateboard, but the ultimate thing is really in the wheels. The company, instead of using a belt-drive or gear system, equipped the M1 with two hub motors built directly into the rear wheels. This configuration not only makes the board more quick and responsive but it also allows the wheels to spin freely when the motors aren’t engaged. The results in even when the battery dies, you’re still free to push; slide, and go down hills just like you would on a regular long-board.

The battery system is also pretty luminous. Rather than following the crowd and using a fixed rechargeable battery, Inboard built the M1 with an interchangeable power system wherein the batteries can be swapped. This means that when you unavoidably run out of power, you don’t have to plug this board in and wait around for it to recharge. Just take the pare battery and enjoy your ride.
